Gardens & SeeD
Gardens + SeeD Program
The first Garden in existence was Balamb's. Secondly came Galbadia and Trabia. Esthar was the last to get on board surprisingly but they finally got with the program. This all takes place on the continent of Ganosh. And while Gardens are basically military schools, there are still military around in other countries with a strong presence. Gardens take students as early as 5-15, then 16-25 later on. Basically they have a regular schooling program and then an extensive college program for later students. They teach all classes, all materia types, and take young ones from all over Terra. They are not allowed to discriminate by any means.
During recent years, LionFaerie, Novalee Harp and scientist Gustav from Midgar in Planos, made a startling discovery of a way to create portals that brought in people from different worlds. Problem? the machine can't be turned off, is indestructible and won't sent people back. Novalee thought the best place for the Portal Machina was the Garden's quad, which doen't get used as often as you think. Despite any age an otherworlder might be? They allow them to train at Balamb Garden, give them crash course education for the next year but unless they're under twenty-five, they may never join SeeD.
Let's talk SeeD. SeeD is the elite of Garden, they are mercernary soldiers that fight for garden under guise of payment. The SeeD exam is hard to pass. It requires fighting a low-energy level summon like Ifrit, acquiring the summon, equipping and then going off to a rather difficult SeeD field exam to hopefully pass. The Written part is easy as pie but there are a lot of hidden attributes, virtues and sins that are being accounted for on the field exam. SeeD tends to look for keyblade and gunblade specialists because they're effective weapons when mastered. Summoners and mages are also highly welcomed.
During the course of the game, schooling will run for four sesmesters each year. By the end of March, it'll be time for SeeD courses for 15+-24 year old characters who are students. The conflict could be anywhere in Terra, and I do mean anywere. It doesn't just rely on being a Ganosh problem anymore as Ganosh goes through lulls of peace considering it's a small continent.
GAME YEAR ONE - 2019-2020
TRIMESTER 1#: Has begun September 10th. Ends December 22nd, during the winter season. Classes break for two weeks, everyone travels out or goes home for the holiday or stays at Garden. Happy Jolly Daddies is the holiday celebrated. Everyone comes back January 7th.
TRIMESTER 2#: Starts from Jan. 7th To April 10th, everyone breaks for two weeks, the celebrated holiday is Happy Happy Love Day. Everyone comes back April 25th.
TRIMESTER 3#: Starts from April 25th to June 3rd. Most people go home or stay if Garden is their home but there are at least 100 students that stay if they want to do the SeeD Exam. Usually only 4-10 pass. After a brief five day respite, the SeeD crash course runs from June 11th to June 28th. Then the actual SeeD Exams take course over the next two weeks in July, the written part is done during the crash course and the headmasters and garden masters look for conflicts of interest to get their potential SeeDs involved in for the field exams.
