GUIDELINES TO FOLLOW
RESPECTING OTHER PEOPLE - Consideration is key out of character. Consider feelings, thoughts, words. Be polite, friendly, courteous. Do not force personal plots down anyone's throats unless they're wanted. Do not force ships on people unless they're wanted, this even includes ships already established in canon because this is a do-over and we can do things differently here. Please keep talk about sexualities, gender, religion and politics to a minimum in the OOC com and public discord server. You can otherwise, talk about those things in private if you wish to do so. By following this simple guideline, we can have a smooth sailing ship on even troubled IC high seas.
If there is trouble between you and another player that can't be resolved peacefully between the two of you, please bring it to the mod's attention via privately on discord or via pm through this mod journal. I will resolve it as quickly as humanly possible for both parties. If I find one is at fault and it's heinous, you may be kicked from the game permanently or put on a brief hiatus as punishment, then separated from the player you were harassing altogether.
Honestly, we're mostly adults on this server, so I imagine this won't happen all too often. I feel as a mod, it's my duty to help where I can. So, yes, bring issues to me. Please. Otherwise, keep drama oocly down to a minimum altogether. We should handle things maturely and be mature about things.
WRITING ETIQUETTE - Literacy is expected but we shouldn't be grammar nazis or anything else that should make others shy away. All I ask is is that you try and make your posts readable for other players, so that they understand you and you receive a decent response, but they deserve one too. If someone gives you a 2,000 word reply, we certainly don't expect you to have the mental prowess to do the same and I would hope they don't expect the same from you unless it was discussed before hand and you're perfectly fine with churning out the same length.
Write in third person, no chatspeak or first person. It won't be tolerated. We don't care if you use action prose or storybook or simple third person. All is welcome as long as it's third person related.
DO NOT GODMODE. PLEASE - This would mean controlling a character that isn't yours, rather this be speech, action or forwarding a plot so aggressively without the other player's permission, you might as well be writing a fanfic. You can however control small actions to forward a plot a along. You've been roleplaying long enough to know what that might be I imagine.
When it comes to characters battling each other, please use turn base attacks and defense. Please decide who wins before hand considering stats. Whoever has the higher stats may be the victor but it also takes strategic and critical thinking, so think of who has battled more, who has more intellect, etc etc. However, it's not surprising if the guy considered to be dumb as a brick to be the victor because he thought of the simplest move to win.
Basically do not say you hit someone and it worked, but rather let the other player decide what worked and what didn't. Just as you should for your character. Use discretion and consideration, please. This is all for fun times.
GAME RATING - This game is Rated MA-14. For violence, some language, mature themes and some sexual content. You must be at least 18 in order to participate. Please do not sign up with the intention of deceiving others that you are over 18 and we come to find out later that you're not, resulting in you being kicked from the game. That would suck, especially if we've come to like you and our characters got really deep with yours.
In addition, characters must be at least 14 years old to be played. Under 14 is prohibited, however NPCs 13 and under are allowed, in the case of children siblings and such. I also do not want to see any 14 year old character participating in a sexual thread. 16 and above will suffice.
LET'S BE ACTIVE! - There will be activity checks that will happen every two months, on the first of every second month with a respite of a month before it happens again. You simply need to state if you're still interested in keeping your characters. Which means you'll need to name your character/s and fandom/s.
Once the activity check is over, and you haven't responded in due time (2 weeks, with mod nudging to help you out) then your characters will be removed from the taken page, everywhere else and be free for someone else to play.
SO MANY MUSES, SO LITTLE TIME - We have a cap on character limits as well as fandom limits.
The character cap is 14. This is how many characters one person can play: basically we would like to ensure that everyone can have a chance to play certain characters and that you don't overwhelm yourself. Try not to play so many characters that you don't know what to do with them either or you get overwhelmed. If I feel this can be upped because everyone is doing awesome, then I certainly will.
Also, with the character cap, one player can play up to 3 characters from the same fandom, but not those that heavily interact with each other.
TAGS, PLEASE - Please be sure to use tags in the network and log communities, you'll note that there may be tags that are the same but different from each other especially if the fandom comes from two mediums, such as a video game and live action of the same thing. Example tags: Claire Redfield (Games), Claire Redfield (Movies) or Katniss Everdeen (Books), Katniss Everdeen (Movies), so please be sure to use the appropriate tag that way no one gets confused and mixed up. Not to mention it's a good way to keep tabs on you for activity incase someone is character sitting.
CHARACTER SITTING - If I or someone else finds you sitting on characters you have not even attempted to play or haven't played in a long time and aren't giving them up, we'll discuss why but generally it's more than likely I will ask you to give up the character privately and quietly so there's no hard feelings. For an accurate assumption of character sitting, it would take a good four months of no activity from said character. I'm lenient, don't get me wrong, but when it comes to the KH and FF fandoms, among some other popular fandoms, we have to have this rule.
HIATUSES & DROPS - Hiatuses happen for many reasons; vacations, family emergencies and muse loss. Feel free to take up to two weeks, with an extension of two weeks. if you're gone for a month, you may not be interested anymore or you lost interest a long time ago. Please use the the hiatus and drops page here for your convenience.
MUSE LOSS - It happens. You're free to retire a character, no problem. I'd even approve if your character died in some way that seemed realistic, but not always the case with most players. However, if the muse loss is short, we will wait a month before killing them off. What I mean by muse loss is simple, you may have another character but no muse for another. I don't want you to make a mistake of killing off a character just yet if they've been around for awhile or too short a time. You may get the muse back or someone else could play the character.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
My character wakes up where now?
Sector 7 Slums at Gustav's labs or Balamb Garden in Balamb Country. They wake up in a a white tube and there are many other tubes around them with people waiting to wake up or will have people in them soon. They'll be told by Tifa Lockhart or Selphie Tilmitt why they're there and what they can do in the meantime until they find a way back home.
What else can my character learn and from whom?
They'll meet Gustav and Tifa Lockhart from Midgar, or Selphie or someone else from Balamb Garden. They'll give them the world wide web device, explain the job classes, and direct them toward the headmaster (or from Gustav to Tifa because she'll explain the world and it's happenings and how you're not getting home for awhile to come, she'll also feed you and fix you a hard drink, don't worry) so they can decide what they're going to do and meet up with others that are in the same predicament. From there, it's entirely up to them.
The device looks like a cellphone and it looks like a weird one to boot. What does it do? What is it?
First off, it's deep blue, the part standing up is the video/picture taking part. The second part at the bottom slides up and out so it can perform text messaging, searching on the internet and holding conversations. (The keyboard is embedded underneath the skin, it's not a touch one)
People can reach out from all over and talk to you in any format. You will also be connected to the Terrian news network for the latest updates in the going ons in Terra.
Such as if a character finds a new city or land, it'll be reported by the News Network, so other characters can go explore it and discover things for themselves too.
Do I have to participate in the main plots?
Nope. That's entirely up to you. You can also do personal plots and such or suggest plots you'd find more interesting in the meantime.
Does my character have to participate in leveling up and such?
Nope. They can simply travel Terra or stay in one place.
What's with the leveling system?
I think it'll be fun. And it's pretty straight forward, the more threads you do, the more characters level up. So you can basically set your own pace.
Does leveling give me an advantage over others? Like characters who don't level up for example?
The answer would be yes, unless you're a level 5 because even without choosing a class, they're still a level 5. But, if say your character is level 10 and the other character is level 6, then you do have an advantage. If your character is level 10 and someone else's character is level 15, then they have the advantage.
It also depends on what class is pitted against each other. A white mage is extremely weak against a warrior or even a Squire class, so it's possible that a level 20 white mage would have trouble against a level 15 warrior. Especially because White Mages are defensive, they have hardly any strength and basically have nothing to attack with unless their opponent is a an undead.
And Activity checks? What's up with those?
You don't have to have threads presented for an AC, only for level ups. You just continue claiming your characters, long as you aren't squating with them. Meaning, you're holding on and not playing them.
What's with the limit breaks? I think those are useless.
Once again, I thought it would be fun, like you're playing a RPG, just in writing format. Think of this as a more complex text based adventure where you level up, gain new attacks and join people to form a party. The more you level with the people you decide to keep around, the more attacks you get as a group or a duo.
Soulmate breaks? Really? Why you have to be so complicated?
Because. Soulmates are awesome. I have no further explanation. Dismissed.
Can I name my own Limit Breaks/Soul Breaks?
I wouldn't take your creative juices away from you, so yes, you're allowed to create them, describe them and name them in your stat list.
Okay... so, job classes? What if my character was stronger before this?
Well, now they're at a low level. Don't really have an explanation for this other than they're just weaker in Myriadia until they level.
What if my character technically already has a job class?
Then you'll want to choose Squire for them. It's a jack of all trades class. Meaning they can learn bits of everything as they level up while still retaining their weapons, clothes and such. They can learn spells like a white mage, item mixing like a chemist but theirs will be weaker than those classes. For example Axel from Kingdom Hearts, uses chakrams and can summon fire at will, you can still play him this way but now he's weaker and must level to become stronger. Characters who have no class or have never been fighters, will have to choose a class but only if they wish.
What if someone lies about their stats? What will you do about that?
I'll keep my fingers crossed that people are honest and want to play the right way. It's also pretty easy to track people by asking for updates on the leveling up/classes page.
Why Final Fantasy?
Because while I've played other JRPGs, the one that sticks out in mind most is Final Fantasy. I grew up with it and I figure it's a go to, because it's something many people can understand. Not to mention, it's pretty straight forward on how I want this world to work.
So, this is open world?
Yes, it is, for the most part. While there are definite places to visit, the characters are welcome to discover other races, monsters, arena monsters, villages, towns, weapons, armor, and cities that aren't on the list. You can submit forms to add them to the list as well, add a description, maybe a picture and name them anything you want.
Can I play an AU version of a character?
You're more than welcome to, however I'll only allow about one AU version per character.
What about characters from different canon points?
I'll allow up to about three before I cap that too. So say we get Sam Winchester from season 2 of Supernatural, then Sam Winchester from the latest seasons of Supernatural and then since we have Sam Winchester in the middle somewhere, that would be a cap. Technically they're still different characters, much has happened to them at certain points and they're personalities would be a little different. Season 2 Sam is someone without all the hang ups and was a wholesome boy back then. Middle Sam is still trying to redeem himself. Season 11 Sam is learning to loosen up and has accepted that his life as the norm. Yeah, that's why it's allowed.
Won't this bother people? Having all these AU and Canon point characters around?
If it bothers you, don't join, simple as that. Besides, everyone plays characters differently, I think everyone deserves a chance to play them.
Can I play an original character?
Yes! Feel free. They can be originals to Terra itself or come from other universes and such. They can also be fandom OCs but please don't play a character that is related to a fandom character unless you discuss it with the player of that character first.
Why are some locations more detailed than others?
Well, one is original and one is a Final Fantasy Land that hadn't really been played by anyone. They'll get more details and locations added before the game opens, I just needed a break for now and wanted to get things going. Not gonna lie.
